Norwegian Cruise Line celebrates its first 50 years of unforgettable cruise holidays
2016 marks fifty years since the M/S Sunward made her first voyage from Miami to the Caribbean on 19 December 1966, signifying the birth of Norwegian Caribbean Lines. Today, the company now known as Norwegian Cruise Line is a leading global cruise brand with 14 purpose-built ships sailing to more than 300 destinations worldwide. To celebrate this golden milestone, Norwegian is inviting their guests, travel professionals, partners and team members to share fifty years of memories made through the company’s #NorwegiansFirst50 Anniversary Campaign.
“We are celebrating fifty years of incredible moments aboard our ships and it’s the people — our guests, travel partners, team and crew members — who make our history so special. We wouldn’t be here today without their loyalty and dedication,” said Andy Stuart, President and Chief Executive Officer for Norwegian Cruise Line. “We invite everyone who has sailed with us, commemorated a special occasion with us or made memories onboard to share their favorite moments and celebrate our first fifty years along with us.”
Through the global initiative, Norwegian Cruise Line guests, travel partners, and current and former employees are invited to upload their photos and stories to NorwegiansFirst50.com, which showcases a dynamic timeline of photos and stories spanning the brand’s first 50 years. Fans who upload memorable moments to the site, which will serve as a living, growing tribute to 50 years of feeling free out on the water, are encouraged to share their memories with friends on their social networks, with the chance of winning a free cruise as a reward for joining in the celebration (in participating markets).
Those who wish to sail during Norwegian’s official 50th anniversary this December can reserve their stateroom now to join in the fun, with eight-night cruises departing on 18 December from New York to Florida & The Bahamas on Norwegian Breakaway; from Miami to the Western Caribbean on Norwegian Getaway; and from Tampa to the Western Caribbean on Norwegian Jade. On 19 December cruisers can set sail from the Big Apple on Norwegian Gem to the Eastern Caribbean on a 10-night holiday cruise and from Miami on Norwegian Pearl, for a 10-night bucket list Panama Canal adventure. To make for a merry holiday experience all guests can also take advantage of Norwegian’s Free At Sea offer.
